Schemes Related to Forest Development in Haryana

A number of schemes are being run to promote forest conservation and forest development in the state of Haryana.

Centrally Sponsored and External sector Schemes

Schemes run by the Central Government and the external sector in the state are as follows:

Kandi Project

  • It was launched in the year 2008.
  • The scheme, funded by the World Bank, relates to re - plantation in the Shivalik hills of the Northern part of Ambala and Yamunanagar districts of the state.
  • This scheme is an integrated scheme of the Forest, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture departments, which work together forest development.
  • Aravalli Rehabilitation Scheme

  • The scheme, funded by the European Economic Community, relates to the re - plantation of the uncovered Aravalli hills.
  • This scheme is being implemented in the state of Haryana from the year 1990 - 91.
  • Under this scheme, the tree planting was done on 33000 hectares of open and rocky land of Aravalli hills within 6 years. The scheme is committed to rejuvenate the Aravalli hills.
  •  Social Forestry Scheme

  • This scheme was started in the year 1982 in collaboration with World Bank. The estimate. of this scheme was 33.32 crores.
  • The main objective of this scheme was to plans trees over 67000 hectares of land in 5 years,
  • The scheme was completed in the year 2006 - 07. Under this scheme, 338 villages in 11 districts of the state were covered and plantation was done there. The participation of women was prominent in this scheme.
